MISSING JUST ONE THING

Mark 10:21,22

"And Jesus looking at him, loved him, and said to him, 'You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.' Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions." ESV

Becoming a true follower of Christ is a simple act of faith for us, but the cost for this marvelous privilege cost Him so very much. Salvation is a free gift to ALL who will believe. True repentance and faith in Christ is not so easy because we find it inevitable that we manifest the life of God in our thoughts and actions. Being a Christian is not an easy mental agreement. It is living the life of God through our daily lives rather than living the way we think is right.

Lord, how can we ever give back to You for freely providing this most awesome gift of salvation and eternal life? All that we have is our selves and what we have collected here of material things. Take our lives and all that we have and use them for Your glory. In Your name we pray, Amen.

DON'T FORGET WHO THE REAL OWNER IS

Deuteronomy 6:11,12

"...and when you eat and are full, then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery." ESV

We can become so comfortable in our earthly possessions and comforts that we forget about the fact that it all belongs to God. It is by His grace and mercy that we are able to experience it in our lives. Perhaps we need to keep our attitude in the right place when it comes to our possessions and prosperity. We don't want them to become so important that they blind us to whom it all belongs and who we really are in His eyes.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the many blessings you have given us. We pray that You help us to keep from allowing these blessing to become more important than our relationship with You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

OUR STUFF, HERE TODAY GONE TOMORROW

Proverbs 27:24

"For riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations." NIV

"For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?" KJV

We live in a time when our status in society is measured by how much material wealth we have. This creates a driving force for all of us to work as hard as we can, in one way or another, to get more and more. This is a deceiving plan of Satan. He knows as humans we will become attached to our "things" and will want more. Then we will get our eyes off of what really matters, the things of God. Material wealth is only for a little while. The life of God through Christ Jesus and His will for our lives is forever.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for getting caught up in the things of this world. Give us discernment to know it is a trick of Satan. Give us the right perspective about the possessions with which You have blessed us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
