 Matthew 3:15 "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." NIV "And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him." KJV Jesus had no need to repent. Why then, did He insist that John baptize Him? He knew it was right to be identified with sinners, those who were in desperate need of repentance. He is righteous and is our righteousness. So through His baptism, He identified with us and through our baptism, we are identified with Him. Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that Jesus Christ willingly gave Himself and identified Himself with mankind by obedience through baptism. Help us to realize that through our baptism, we are fully identified with Him and we are free to walk in righteousness as He did.
