 1 Samuel 16:7 "But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'" NIV "But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." KJV Even though we know that God is the only one who can destroy our soul, it is a comforting thing to know that God will look at our hearts and will judge us with fairness and mercy according to His nature. To be judged my man is such a shallow thing. It can be humiliating to be wrongly judged publicly, but it is nothing compared to standing before God Almighty with an impure heart. Heavenly Father, we always bask in the precious abundance of Your love and acceptance. But we do realize that You are also Judge of creation. The judgment of men comes from limited knowledge and biased opinions, things seen only on the outside. Help us to examine our hearts so that when we stand before You, our hearts will be clean and will reflect the cleansing blood of Your Son.
