THE LORD IS NEAR

Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." NIV

"The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them." KJV

It is no rare thing these days to be or know someone who is crushed and brokenhearted. If we share with them that God is near them and brings them through the troubled time, it will be a refreshment to those who are downcast. And, if we are broken and crushed, we must believe that our God is bigger than our problems, He is with us, and we will rejoice once again.

Heavenly Father, we thank You and praise You that You are with us always, and that You are near and comforting to the brokenhearted. Help us, Lord, to be open so that You can use us to life up others who are in despair. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  1. Good Monday Morning!
As I was reading your post this a.m. I thought about the portion of broken heart: and I thought about the brokeness of my heart that I have experienced many times in my life and how that even as I reflect back, I see how God was always there to hold me,and keep me. Then I thought a bit deeper and thought the heart is the inner man ...my will...my understanding..my moral character...the seat of my emotions and passions and I thought the Lord is nigh my broken heart....allow the Rock of my salvation to come in and crush all of my heart that is not as him..to break to pieces those emotions or passions that are for something outside of him...scriptures commands us to set our affections on things above but yet we < I > find many times my affections are bound to earthly temporal things...Oh Lord come nigh unto me as the Word, the Rock crushes my will, my wrong emotions and passions that I may experience a true holy brokeneness towards you...to humble myself completely to the Rock as it breaks to pieces my Will that your Will may be established!
Oh thank you this morning Daily Grace for "food for thought"...I've been fed naturally and spiritually this am.
