"And what I say
to you I say to all: Stay awake." ESV
Of course our physical
bodies require certain amounts of sleep to renew and replenish. Spiritually, the
Lord directs us to stay awake, alert, because the enemy is constantly and subtly
seeping deception into our lives. Our protection against these deceptions is to
be aware, watch, and discern. We do that by keeping close the our Lord, always
being filled with His Spirit, studying the Word, and being with fellow
Christians who are committed to staying awake as well.
Heavenly Father, we
confess that we sleep at times in our spirits and become easy prey for the
enemy. Give us that hunger and perseverance to stay alert at all times, so that
we will not be deceived. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
