Beloved, although I was
very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to
write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered
to the saints." ESV
If we are contending for the
faith, that is, faith in Jesus Christ, then we are wrestling against anything
that would threaten that faith. We would be taking a stand against any human
power or entity that questions or degrades our faith. In addition, we would be
battling any thought, imagination, or temptation that would distract us from the
narrow path of truth. So, actively take a stand for the faith!
Heavenly Father, we live in a
world where being different is ridiculed and misunderstood. Forgive us for not
standing up for our Christian faith in times of testing. Fill us with the power
of the Holy Spirit to stand strong and ready to defend the faith You gave so
much to allow us to have. We pray in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ, Amen.
