Chronicles 28:9
"And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with
a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and
understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you,
but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever." ESV
It
is easy for our spiritual gifts from God to become our own. If that happens, our
total devotion and intentions of the heart
become tainted and our God receives no glory
from the very gifts we are given for His use. But God is faithful. He is always
monitoring our hearts and prompting us to get
our spirits in tune with Him. If we look to Him to do this and obey, He will make Himself known to us. If we
continue in our own selfish way, we will be
left to our own destructive course.
Heavenly Father,
it is so easy to be distracted by the things of this world. Forgive us for
letting down our guard and for not seeking You with our whole heart. Help us to
stay alert and committed to You and Your way so that we will know You and be
found good and faithful servants. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
