There are so many
different traditions, doctrines, and beliefs within the different denominations
of Christianity. Unfortunately, many divisions in the Body of Christ exist
because Christians defend and argue beliefs that are of really no significance
when it comes to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and building up the body of
believers. These useless differences only serve to distract us from the real
purpose of the Church and our Christian walk. If every Christian focused on the
Lord Jesus Christ, His Word, and His death and resurrection for our sins, we
would be in unity and have far more power to effect this world.
Heavenly Father,
forgive us for getting caught up in less important beliefs that are specific to
our own local church or denomination. Help us to stay focused on our Lord Jesus
and His purpose for us as His children. Help us to seek unity among all true
believers. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
