minds on things above, not on earthly things." NIV
"Set your
affection on things above, not on things on the earth." KJV
As Christians it
is easy to understand that focusing our minds on earthly things will soon bring
us disappointment and sorrow. Staying focused on the things of God will always
keep our hearts at peace and joy because the things of God are eternal. The
problem is the forces at work in this world keep distracting us and we tend to
let our minds get stuck on the things of this world. If we wake up giving the
Lord our day and ask Him to help us stay focused on Him, we will find our lives
are more content and happy.
Heavenly Father,
we are sorry that we allow the world to draw our attention away from You. Help
us through the power of the Holy Spirit to keep our minds focused on the eternal
things of Your kingdom and not the degenerating things of this world. In Jesus'
name we pray, Amen.
