1 Corinthians
10:13
"No
temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you
are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure
it."NIV
"There hath
no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who
will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear
it."KJV
Do we find
ourselves becoming overly confident in our ability to rise above temptation? We
are never above the reach of temptation and the possibility of a fall. It is
human nature to be faced with temptation and look for ways to justify our giving
in to it. There are no excuses like, "I couldn't help it," "That's just the way
I am." All of us are tempted in one way or another. The Lord will never allow us
to get to a place in the face of temptation that we have no choice but to sin.
He always provides a way out.
Heavenly Father,
how we praise You for making a way for us to rise above temptation, not by our
own strength, but by Your mercy and grace. Give us hearts of discernment so that
we will not give in to temptation, but will take the way out You have provided
for us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
