SELF CONTROL

Proverbs 25:28 "Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control." NIV "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." KJV Isn't it just like us to purpose within ourselves to be better Christians and set out trying to make that happen by our own willpower? Self-control is not something we can produce on our own. We are spiritually willing but our flesh is weak. Relying on our own willpower leaves us so vulnerable, like sheep surrounded by wolves. Inviting the Holy Spirit to guide us and supply us will give us the fruit of self-control that will get us where God wants us. Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for trying to live Godly lives in our own strength. We pray for the fullness of the Holy Spirit to give us the self-control we need to safely walk the true path of righteousness.
