SIN AND PRAYER

Psalm 66:18

"If I had cherished sin in my heart the Lord would not have listened." NIV

"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." KJV

There have been times when we feel that God has not heard or answered our prayers. Most of the time, He has heard our prayers, but His answer is delayed. Perhaps He is telling us to wait or He is waiting for the right time to send the answer. However, there may be times when we are holding on to something contrary to God's Word, something displeasing to Him. It is then that God does not hear our prayers. If we want our prayers to be effective, we will examine ourselves and take care of any sin we may be hiding.

Heavenly Father, we want our prayers to be effective. Help us to examine ourselves so that we can deal with anything within us that is displeasing to You and would interfere with out prayers. In Jesus' name. Amen.

  1. Oh how perfect is our God! How perfect is his timing: This morning as I went before the LORD in prayer, I prayed as usual < not to imply it is routine prayer> but after about 25 minutes into it, he reminded me of a conversation that I had yesterday with a coworker..and I might add it was not a very righteous holy conversation...I was as and idol worshipper, I was an adultress, in that I idolized her praise and laughter towards me, an adultress as in becoming intimate with the conversation to bring a false exaltation and satisfaction to me...this morning I realized there is but one God to be praise and worshipped there is but one that I need to have true intimacy with ...and that intimacy guides me into the intimacy with others...as I wept before the LORD this morning ...I felt his love, his temperance his long-suffering towards me, and even wept from a deeper level...crying out Father save me from me, forgive me for robbing you, betraying you, in my chosing to fellowship darkness over the Light...He spoke to me and stated that " He had heard my cry of grief and that I was forgiven that "sin" is a choice" go and sin no more! WOW...then I thought of the lady found in adultery how he had told her to go and sin no more....and she went about as a royal committed faithful handmaiden of God...so be it! Then I came across your and one other web site not by chance but by the Holy Ghost that leads...Prover 66:18 and your scripture Prov 18:21...God does speak we are "just not paying attention"...he speaks every day ...thank you for you blog ...and the hope / joy / peace / and encouragment I found today!

  3. God bless you! It sounds like you have a heart after God's own. Your experience is much like ones I have. Our God is faithful and yes He speaks to us always, if we will slow down and listen we will hear Him. Thanks for the kind words.
