FAITH VS COMMON SENSE

Faith is a difficult thing. While we have all been given
a measure of faith, it is contrary to our common sense.
Common sense is human logical thinking that works on
the premise things can be explained and understood
by the human mind. On the other hand, faith is total
and unwavering trust in the unseen God. We can only
know and witness the glory of God by faith. We will
miss His great and mighty workings if we try to
explain Him with our common sense.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for relying on our common
sense to try and understand Your working and Your
ways. Help us, Lord, to use the faith You have given us
and to increase our faith by study of Your Word. We
ask this in Jesus' name.

Read John 11:40

"Then Jesus said, 'Did I not tell you that if you believed,
you would see the glory of God?" (NIV)

"Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou
wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"
(KJV)

  1. Hi Bobbi,

I've often approached faith from an analytical perspective (perhaps because of my professional background in IT) and encountered frustration. I'm learning that my approach to faith isn't dependent on logical thinking and assent; trust in God is foundational and imperative.

There are many things in scripture I may not understand or have the ability to articulate but I'm learning that they aren't necessary in order for faith to operate. That is a significant change for me.

    Blessings and peace.

  2. Thank you for such an inspiring message on faith. When we finally realize that through faith alone we can come to the Father through His Son Jesus, we begin to draw even closer in our relationship with God. All we need to do is ask God for the wisdom necessary to discern His Word and He will give it to us abundantly. God bless you Bobbi.

  3. Your comment about studying the Word to increase our faith fits right in line with the scripture I read this morning and what I posted yesterday. God must be trying to tell me something :) Thank you for this and for your kind visit to my blog. Blessings to you!

  4. There are a lot of people who say they have faith but faith by its self
is worthless. What's important is the object of your faith. And if the object of your faith is not Jesus and the work He did on the cross for you personally, then you are still dead in your trespasses and sins.
