How often do we find ourselves struggling to do what we
want and then find a way to make it appear as though it is
God's will. The noise of this world and our busy minds tend
to crowd out the voice of the Spirit of God in us. The hard part
is to stop and listen. If we will just stop, really listen to the
Holy Spirit, and do whatever it is He is leading us to, we will
find that it is the best thing that has ever happened to us.
Heavenly Father, we ask for your forgiveness because we
try to place Your will into our own plans. Help us to shut
out the noise of our own desires and the things of this world
that crowd out the Holy Spirit. Give us Godly ears to hear and
hearts to know where the Spirit is leading us, and the will to
obey. In Jesus' name.
Read Romans 8:5
"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their
minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live
in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what
the Spirit desires." (NIV)
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of
the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things
of the Spirit." (KJV)

You speak the truth, sister!
ReplyDeleteVery true. I cling to Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight." Wonderfully inspirational Bible verses today! Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteSuch an AWESOME reminder . . . the pressure from the world to move ahead of God is so overwhelming. The Spirit keeps us "in step" with the Lord and the blessings that come from being obedient are beyond all that we could dare hope for or imagine. The Lord used your post to speak to me today . . . to assure me that I am walking in His will and that I should keep my eyes upon Him!
ReplyDeleteGod bless!

Wonderful post. We can enter God's rest over any circumstance of our life if we will listen to His holy Spirit speak, is taking the time to silence the world noise that is sometime difficult and that is what I prayed for the most.

This post brings to mind the need to sit at rest and quiet our minds...still our bodies, and open our hearts as you say, to the Holy Spirit's leading. God has provided us with a wonderful gift in the HS and sometimes we forget the power that lies within us...Thy will Lord, not mine.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, timely, wisdom filled post.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a struggle with most people I believe if not all people. Thank you for this reminder.

Thank you again for such an inspiring message from God's Word. I prayed your prayer and asked the Lord for forgiveness because sometimes it is so hard to keep the influence of this world for interfering with His will. God bless. Lloyd
