The Lord teaches us the way we are to go. He gets us back on
the right path when we stray. He works with us to be disciplined
and obedient to Him. Sometimes this is not a pleasant thing, but
it tells us that He loves us and cares about us as a loving parent
with a child.
Read Proverbs 3:11,12
"My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent
his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a
father the son he delights in." (NIV)
"My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary
of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as
a father the son in whom he delighteth." (KJV)
